Boycott at Sunbury over Reading Railway layoffs

About 100 Pennsylvania Railroad trainmen in Sunbury have begun a boycott of the Reading Company after multiple union member discharges. They warned local merchants that shipments via the Reading would be boycotted until the Reading company changes its policy toward union workers.

Two Scranton Men Killed in Action Report

Exclusive AP dispatch lists enlisted men killed Sept. in the Fifteenth Infantry. Names include John T. Brink private of Company 1 and Fred Duggan private of Company the Fiflarath Infantry, both enlisted at Scranton Pennsylvania. Nearest relatives named W. From The Associated Press in Sacramento dated September 2 a report notes Pennsylvania coal strikes have demoralized Great Lakes carrying trade and forced several resorts to curtail operations. Toronto headquarter resorts have faced layoffs as crews are dismissed amid a premature season end.

The Associated Press reports resignations at Philadelphia and Reading railroad. A. Seeigand general superintendent and E. C. Four Negroes Hanged After Jail Break at Ponchatoula

In Tangipahoa Parish four Black men were hanged after a jail break in Ponchatoula. A mob seized prisoners accused of robbing Henry Holfelter’s family, choked Mrs. Holfelter, and forced confessions before hanging four suspects beside a tree. Authorities brace for further violence as residents flee to churches.
