Cleopatra: Collier Outshines Cleopatra Debut at Academy
Edmund Collier’s return as Cleopatra at the Academy of Music showed strong vocal strength, though his co-star Mary Emerson struggled with line delivery. Emerson, praised for beauty and grace, failed to match prior Rose Eytinge success, particularly in scenes with Antony. The production included dances and a green skirt display by Octavia, Caesar’s sister, amid a well mounted show.
