The Palisades Scandal Rider and the Narrow Escape
Wealthy spinster Mrs. Floyd Jones plots with Col. Washington Johnson to court the widow while Florence Van Cortland-Browne, amid blue blood snobbery, battles a jealous rival. Mr. Van Cortland-Browne, in a fatal lovers’ June night, falls from the Palisades on a stormy Fourth of July eve and clings to a cedar until rescue. The tale ends with son games and a wedding future, as the family returns to Eagle’s Nest.
