Warner Again Insane In Delaware Valley
Billy Warner once a top engineer for the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western was taken to Hill Side Home yesterday as an insane patient on a second admission. On the same train to Clark’s Summit was 14 year old Italian boy Joseph Triko of Dunmore, also insane, handcuffed to Warner. Warner’s derangement dates to a 1859 wreck on the DL&W where he was hurled from a bridge, his left leg badly crushed, and since then he has been lame with a damaged eye. He was confined at the home before, discharged after recovery, then began insane acts in the North End Wednesday night and was arrested and later released. Yesterday doctors declared him insane. Two watches seized from Warner’s clothing were sent to his wife on Prescott Avenue. In the police cell he tore his clothing. Triko was examined and adjudged insane after being delivered by his father. He earlier rode a Lackawanna avenue burgy to the South Side, then stole danfer lanterns on Mulberry Street Thursday night. his home is in Dunmore.

Leitch Builds Enormous Kite On Local Hill
James Leitch, a noted Hanley’s dining room waiter, constructed a twelve by eight by four foot box kite modeled on the Blue Hill pattern. It flies from the hill behind No 36 school on breezy days drawing hundreds of spectators as the government used design glides in the wind. The kite uses a slender frame, two foot cloth bands, and a heavy clothes-line sized string. When winds rise the string must be snubbed to a post or tree to prevent wandering.

Work On The Bike Path Progressing From Scranton To Ariel
Surveyors under Edward Smith of Bart & Smith report the projected Scranton to Hawley bicycle path has advanced to two and a half miles beyond Ariel. Enthusiasm grows among most locals though farmers view the road as a nuisance. Ariel residents favor a five mile branch to Hoadleys, while classified ads promote a centa-word rate for quick sales. City taxes for 1897 are due with penalties. November 1 triggers transfer to collectors per act of May 22, 1899. Scranton Conservatory of Music notes continued high registration and praise for new rooms and facilities.
