Sixteen cousins challenge Handley estate in federal suit
A federal equity suit opens soon over nearly two million dollars in the residue of Judge John Handley’s estate. Sixteen alleged first cousins claim the residuary estate, while specific bequests to Winchester, St Patrick’s Orphanage and the House of the Good Shepherd stand apart. The heirs argue the city of Winchester cannot be residuary legatee and seek substitution as next of kin.
