He collected about a thousand buttons from students and burned them in a bonfire in the schoolyard. He argued the buttons foster distraction and immoral inscriptions while keeping some returned to owners.
Thieves broke into John Thiel’s tailoring shop on Spruce Street Saturday morning and stole several hundred dollars of goods including suitings and wake-up items. Entry was gained through a rear window. no clue or items left behind.
Mindleton Nob Oct 11 Besale Weiss a seven year old girl is reported in dying condition at her Carmel home. She worked at the same shirt factory as her father. A bobbin fell and as she tried to pick up her hair she was drawn into a spinning wheel, the wheel turning three times before her father freed her. Her scalp was torn and she suffered severe injuries. she was moved home and a doctor feared she would die.

Old man Thomas O’Malley was struck by a switching engine at the Lackawanna yard on lower Lackawanna avenue Saturday around 4 pm. The engineer stopped the train in time. O’Malley suffered a fractured collarbone and bruises and was taken to his home for treatment.
