Powdered coal fed from a hopper and brushed into the firebox aims for smokeless, efficient burning and 25 to 40 percent fuel savings. Little Problem in Interest in City Liens

Last Thursday night select council authorized payment of municipal liens that were defeated in court on technical grounds by the property owners. The ordinance specifies interest from 1887, the contract date, and a councilman noted that contractors Williams & Phillips will receive nearly double the original $294.87 lien after thirteen years at 6 percent, totaling about $524.86. He warned that such judgments drain city funds and urged prudence in using judgments for purposes beyond clearing big outstanding debts.
