Verticals include Wick Stockton bicycle parts Hatch Brothers Fire Hill Winters Nies Times & Co Rathbone Lard Haight Clark and more with thousands of workers rehired or expanded amid widespread optimism.
At Gibraltar crossing of the Pennsylvania railroad in Reading, Charles F. Bright 66 and Miss Catharine Boyer 21 died after a fast freight struck their carriage. Bright’s body was ground to pieces, and Boyer died within minutes from head injuries and a broken limb. Bright carried notes and a $10,000 U.S. bond. Boyer daughter of William Boyer of Eslandon. She had warned of a premonition and played a favorite piano piece before departing with Bright.
A Kentucky youth known as Powers, who vanished from Chicago while aiding the Cuban relief corps and was found injured in Humboldt Tennessee, suddenly recovered his mental faculties at his Owensboro home. He spoke clearly after doctors prescribed treatment and rapidly improved. Neighbors report the remarkable change as news spread among friends.
The article notes Powers speaking with a calm manner before doctors advised him to stop talking. Physicians ordered him kept undisturbed as belief grows that his attendants may be Deminent or influential in his condition.

Andrew Whodside, Hungarian laborer of 04 Phelps Street, was assaulted near Linden Street Bridge by two men and robbed of 27 dollars. A bullet pierced his coat sleeve but not his flesh as the assailants fled toward Sixth Street. he identified a young man and a large companion. Police secured Tom Lowry and report Whodside not intoxicated.
A Hungarian worker identified as John Cowans was instantly killed at the Lackawanna Iron and Steel blast furnace while unloading pig iron. Found with a crushed skull after falling about twenty five feet into a pit beneath the unloading trestle. Body moved to Raub's undertaking rooms for inquest by Coroner Loni street's jury. inquest scheduled for tomorrow evening at the coroner's office.

Vessels include Trave sailing to Bremen and Fornesela arriving at Mo ville Werra Olbralh and Southampton and Havel at Southampton. Edam departing New York for Amsterdam and Massdam for Rotterdam pass Prawle Point. Werra travels from New York to Genoa while Sagres also noted passing.
