Memorial From Wheelmen Favors Bicycle Tax
Mr. Smith presented a Pennsylvania division memorial from the League of American Wheelmen urging a tax on bicycles tricycles traction engines and horse drawn vehicles. The revenue measures passed include a four mill tax on corporate bonds and on bank stock with estimated raises. Beer bills tax domestic and foreign brews, while other measures such as an emergency horizontal tax bill would raise about 2.5 million annually for three years. The house adjourned until Monday evening after consideration and invitations to the International Business Congress in Philadelphia.
