Freeland Pa May 20 The fourteenth annual convention of the Catholic Total Abstinence union of the Scranton diocese opened in Freeland with delegates lodging in scant hotel space and traveling to Hasleton for one-night stays. The new opera house on Ridge and Carbon hosts the event with a 520-seat capacity and electric lighting. President John J. Ohara led the opening and committees were named for credentials resolutions and amendments as the gathering prepared to hear the annual address.
