Berne Switzerland March 25 The Delagoa bay arbitration judgment postponed for a few days due to difficulties in signing the award over how to distribute the indemnity among claimant groups. The indemnity amount is settled and the division issue is secondary and likely to be settled quickly. The court may leave division to the parties themselves.
At the Republican convention for the seventh congressional district in Orangeburg J. H. Fordham and W. R. Wallace, both described as coloured, were elected delegates to the national convention and instructed for McKinley’s nomination.
Amos Elder, an oil well driller, shot and killed his wife during a struggle while intoxicated. The crime occurred at night. Elder fled the scene and remains at large.
Ira E. Brede longtime auction pool seller and bookmaker died at his Detroit residence from paralysis aged about 65. He was widely known in gambling circles as one of the oldest and best regarded in the country.

Washington March 25 The army appropriation bill will be taken up tomorrow and debated for three days as a text for discussion on military affairs and the war establishment under new conditions. The bill is a strict supply measure with no army organizational changes. The week will also cover naval agricultural and fortifications bills with the naval report ready and discussed after arms.
In Indianapolis on March 24 revival services at Third Baptist Church near Rhode Island and Hiawatha streets drew protests over noise. Early this morning arson set the church ablaze flooding the interior with flames and kerosene odors as firemen fought a losing battle to save the building.
