Mrs Dolph Again Gets a Verdict in Damages Suit
Mrs Mindwell Dolph again won her suit for 4810 with interest 4788.06 against the National Accident Society of New York after rejecting a 3100 compromise at a former retrial. The case centered on Samuel Dolph’s death and policy terms stating compensation for an injury in a hazardous occupation. The defense hoped for a new trial but the jury returned a full award. A separate suit for 25000 against the Delaware and Hudson Canal Co. by William Ford, a Moosic boy then seven, for injuries from a 1880 grade crossing incident, proceeded with the company denying negligence and claiming the boy rode the train without permission. The trial will continue. Sentences were imposed on counterfeiters in Forest County with Hovis and the Forrester brothers among those punished.
