City charities abandon operatic benefit plan
After careful review the Home for the Friendless and the Free Kindergarten association decide to drop this season’s operatic benefit. They cite nervous strain and internal quarrels, plus concern over funds being used for out of town patronage. A special meeting at the YWCA will discuss a large fair to match the former armory success and attract Lackawanna county-wide support.
