Carbondale Council Holds Special Meeting On Budgets And Services
The Carbondale council held a special meeting to consider sending a 110 bill to county commissioners over the Lanmstaff Kelly election contest. Residents petitioned for two fire hydrants and two street lamps on Fallbrook street. The Jet Water Committee was instructed to query Crystal Lake Water Co for charges, as hydrant costs are high and many hydrants unused. An ordinance cut the city engineer salary from 1200 to 700 dollars. The telephone franchise ordinance received its first two readings. Insurance handling and city property issues were discussed, with action deferred from the lower house. The clerk was ordered to advertise for twelve hydrants. Building expenses for Postmaster Nealon furnishings were approved. A transfer of 95 to the board of revision and appeals was adopted. The meeting adjourned to Monday night after a social at Eugene Wonnacott’s home.
