Miners and Beaneaters Set for Doubleheader Afternoon

Two games scheduled for this afternoon with Harford releasing PJ Lyttle. The first game starts at 2 15 o clock. Harper and Boyd to battery the fret game while Wellner or Meaney and Guneon to pitch the second. Wilkes Barre has yet to beat Syracuse or Buffalo and Rochester has failed to beat Syracuse. Hughey Jennings batting is improving and he may reach .300 within a month. If the team showed half the speed on bases as Walters O'Brien and Bonner the Miners would be near the top. Ned Swartwood makes his first camp appearance this season under fluctuating scores and no weak play from him. Scheffler's four base attempt on a triple was ill advised but strong throws from Eagan Walters Maguire Gunson helped. Meaney’s ninth inning strikeout showed his days were off but he is a strong emergency hitter. Gunson’s fall on Maine’s attempt was decisive after a bench yell to watch the ball. Byrne should rejoin the uniform. Boston is favored to win the pennant with a stronger lineup and healthier squad despite last season’s injuries.
