Elkin Column Holds Strong In Keystone Convention Fight
Editorial: Elkin backers claim momentum as Allegheny and Philadelphia factions battle for delegates. Watres and Pennypacker camps mobilize forces, with caucuses planned and banners flying as pressure and political maneuvering intensify ahead of the state convention.
Chances About Even In G.O.P. Governor Race
The Allegheny delegation sits as the pivotal bloc in the high stakes contest for the Republican gubernatorial nomination. Judge Samuel W. Pennypacker and Attorney General John P. Elkin claim the balance of power as 258 delegates prepare for the state convention. Both sides expect Allegheny to decide the outcome with a likely arrival of delegates on a special car.
