Birthday party for Joseph O Donnell at 409 North Trying Ave
A quiet eighteenth birthday celebration gathered Joseph O Donnell and friends from St Cecilia s academy including Agnes Lynott Agnes Burns Elizabeth Barrett Laura Nales Regina Mahon Mary Joyce and several brothers. The group enjoyed music refreshments and a convivial evening at his home. The board of grand directors of the Young Men s Institute is to meet in Atlantic City to finalize year end business and plan the annual convention in Scranton and Altoona. A letter from John H Vicory of Washington DC says the national convention may be held in Scranton in 1899 and Toledo could win the bid. Mrs Shepherd was elected state guardian for the P T A at Hazleton and the next state convention will be in Scranton. A large hole in the cold weather flag on the Board of Trade building is blamed for the weather forecast not appearing.
