The committee discusses uniting the AFL with the Western Federation of Labor, which has about 5000 members. The council appropriates $1,000 and levies a per member assessment to all unions for aid to fired and locked out cigar makers in New York City. total expected funds reach $15,000 for the striking cigarette makers.
