Estimates on Lifting the Earth in Power and Water

The article cites J A Reale noting lifting the Earth one foot would demand 10,000 horsepower. It would take about 70,000,000 years for such work, with 13 pounds of water per hour per horsepower requiring 10^19 gallons, enough to cover the planet to 300 feet. Steam generation would need 4 quadrillion tons of coal, packed into trains circling the world 45 million times at 25 mph, taking 5 million years to traverse itself.
