Duffin Case Again On For Third Trial In Scranton

The long contested trespass suit of Miss Mary Duffin against the city of Scranton resumes before Judge Cyrus Gordon. A previous trial yielded a $7,000 verdict for the plaintiff before one jury, with another dissenting. The case centers on injuries Duffin suffered November 4 1593 when a wheel on Adams Avenue allegedly encroached on the sidewalk, leaving her with permanent injuries including impaired sight. The city argues the wheel was not on the sidewalk and has minimal link to Duffin's permanent disabilities.
