City Council Advances Municipal Water Initiative
Carbondale council on Saturday night adopted a resolution to secure names of all water consumers for a ten year contract at Crystal Lake Water Company rates before October 1 1899. The city solicitor will draft the contract and a citizens committee of one hundred will secure bindings with consumers at no city cost. The move tests interest in municipal water and potential funding without bonds, seen as Republican campaign ammunition.
