Up York Brite A Peculiar Play At Lyceum Readings

A midswinter production of Up York Brite by Higgins and Walton at the Lyceum draws large crowds. The rural melodrama shifts to crime and romance as Darius Green the inventor faces a villain who tries to seize his farm over a non existent marble vein. Wiggins as Darius and Horton as the villain draw strong performances. Gabriella McKean plays Sarah Basset with limited warmth. The show benefits from good scenic work and a national traveling cast, part of a larger midwinter circus setup.
