Fire in 407 New Street double tenement reported
Last night a blaze in an old two story double tenement at 407 New Street, owned by Benjamin W. Davis, was started in the vacant half. David J. Nelson and his wife had left two hours earlier as flames filled the basement and first floor, with the Phoenix engine and one hose line containing the fire. The building, insured for 800 dollars, suffered minor content damage while the other side remained occupied. A group of boys aged eight to eleven were seen nearby smoking and may have dropped a burning stub in the basement.
