Boston reporters recount a mass strike by West End Street Railway drivers motormen and conductors affecting about 3500 workers. The union cites recognition and a ten hour workday limit while admitting pay is fair. By afternoon many returned to service as talks with company officials faltered. The supreme council later declared the strike off with crews to resume work.
The girl wants release from an unwanted engagement to a man in the city. She accompanies her parents in a petition but makes no complaint when the man is present. Six armed men held up William Burdette's saloon at 4 South Water street during a busy evening rush. They fired at Burdette wounding his leg and took about $100 in receipts before fleeing in different directions as bystanders watched. Police later failed to arrest any suspects.

The preliminary draft for a new Greater New York charter is public. It creates five boroughs Manhattan The Bronx Brooklyn Queens and Richmond with a two house municipal assembly. A single mayor governs while each borough has a president and local boards for districts.
In Rockland township, McKim children tried to pull a match from oily trouser pockets when a blaze started. Three children died in the fire, the mother was away at a neighbor’s, and James Taylor helped rescue one child as the house burned, the other three found charred later.
A Rathbone Steuben County report says at 10:30 p m William Harrington was shot dead and William Allen mortally wounded by Floyd Meyers after an accusation of wagon roll theft. Meyers was arrested at 1 00 a m. Allen died at 12 45 a m.
At Madeira Minnesota on Monday night John Mot shot and killed Dennis J Jablineki, his 19 year old son, and a 16 year old daughter. A fourth person was badly wounded. Mot then shot himself. Mot had been infatuated with Jablineki's daughter and the father objected.
Mary Whitman says she has no memory of marrying Berton M. Main a Sheldon Illinois hypnotist who posed as Bert Main. Main is jailed on a complaint that he used hypnotic influence to wed the bride at a Woodburn boarding house where he stayed four weeks.

Edward Porter killed a Hepound catc mount in Nottingham woods. William Shaller deserted Miss Carrie Button on his wedding day and was jailed in Stroudsburg. Ellis Ebner’s gun misfired while hunting near Millville, fatally wounding him. Mrs Bridget Joyer fell from stairs in Pottsville fracturing her skull and dying.
