Uncertainty Over W. G. OMalley Nomination in South Scranton

In South Scranton the Regular Democratic nominee status of W G OMalley for the Twentieth ward council seat remains unsettled. His Tuesday night Corcoran hall nomination is challenged as unauthoritative under party rules. Burns and Melvin supporters contend the meeting was not called by the ward committee. The tally ended 88 to 34 for OMalley, with disputes over the count. Further caucuses, including one tonight led by Phillips hall, likely determine the ballot fate. A Republican challenger, Thomas Griffiths of the Third district, emerges as a lone candidate, while other community activities and a postponed church dedication loom in the area.
