In Rome, December 1, Signor Imbriani leader of the Socialist party urged the Cubans to salute the memory of General Antonio Macuo who died for his country. He declared rebellion is the right and duty of the oppressed and that glory comes to those who die for such a cause. The remarks drew prolonged applause from deputies.
George Erb a stone mason once from Mechanicsburg Cumberland County confessed at Harrisburg police headquarters to his role in a robbery near Fort Smith Arkansas last March. He and a woman named Ella Hicks gave Edward Nutter knock-out drops to steal from him and Nutter died. Erb said he could not keep the secret longer. He is jailed.
London reports the German ship Rah jah, captained by Bellmer, sailing from Barry Wales to Hong Kong, foundered in the Bristol Channel. Two crew members were rescued while seventeen others drowned.
An unknown man leaped from a Missouri Kaneas and TexOx passenger train traveling at about forty miles per hour near Columbia today. He was killed instantly. A car found with him contained $1,000 and a ticket from Dennison Texas to St. Louis, but no ID to identify him.

J. Hay Brown of Lancaster, a 45 year old lawyer, narrowly missed becoming attorney general and was considered for associate justice of the supreme court. Admitted in 1871, he has led Lancaster law practice with partner W. A. Hensel and been a longtime Republican leader and delegate to multiple national conventions, including the 1580 Grant supporters.

Dan Creedon of Australia defeated Dick OBrien of Heston in the ninth round at Broadway Athletic Club. OBrien showed remarkable grit and received punishment as Creedon, though tired, proved the cleverer fighter. Referee stopped the bout at 2:58 with Creedon dominant. Frank P. Slavin was arrested in Newark and held on 40 bail by Justice Maytheld on a charge of assault and battery. His former manager, Dr. John A. Dougherty, accuses Slavin of brutal assault last night, leaving Dougherty seated up in bed after the encounter.

In San Francisco on December 1, Mrs. Sarah RB. Cooper and her daughter Hattie were found dead in bed from gas asphyxiation at their home. The daughter had long suffered illness requiring constant care, and investigators are unsure if the gas was turned on accidentally or during a moment of personal distress.
