Franchises Favored for West Mind and South Side Railways

Scranton's railway committee votes to report favorably on ordinances granting franchises to the West Mind and South Side Street Railway companies. North End franchise decision postponed to tomorrow to hear objections from the International Correspondence Schools group over Wyoming avenue routes. The session featured M E B McDonald Attorney Joseph O’Prrien and Transit Contract leaders present, with Collins advocating a hearing for opposing arguments. The North End bill opened with sections approved. McDonald urged a businesslike view and pledged a first-class electric street railway system for Scranton, while noting the careful route selection and concessions already built into the ordinances.
