Inhuman mother case spurs charity board action
A monthly meeting of the Hoard of Associated Charities heard a pitiful case of a 12 year old girl, Mary Duty, abused by her liquor-addicted mother. The girl was placed with a foster family in the North Hudson area while authorities consider her future. The board reported 35 cases since the last meeting, with 23 found worthy for aid and 12 not, including seven to work placements and several to hospitals or homes. A Polish family case on Flint street was highlighted as dire. A $12.72 contribution from a sorrow event was turned over to the board, and the suggestion to place contribution boxes in public spots received support.
