The Red Badge of Courage Episode of the Civil War

A youth wanders from the battlefield into a forest chapel where a dead soldier’s corpse confronts him. He confronts fear and shame as he follows a noisy retreat, encounters a wounded veteran who praises the fighters, and longs for his own red badge of courage amid the crowd.

The Tall Soldier Leads into a Grim End

A deserter-like scene unfolds as the tall Jim Conklin, tormented by fear and duty, wanders from his guard to a doomed point. The youth Flem seeks to rescue yet cannot stop the inevitable as the battleground claims him in a ritual of death. The red sun bleeds over the field as the story continues.
