Harrisburg to New York crowds greet William J Bryan with massed cheer and handshakes. In Altoona and Harrisburg thousands line tracks, press gates, and balconies while Bryan and Bland work the crowd amid cries of Bry an. Philadelphia rally swells as the parade of receptions continues.
The Dauphin county convention recommends Olmstead of Harrisburg area for congressman from the thirteenth district comprising Dauphin Lebanon and Perry counties. State Senator McCarrell is renominated. The slate for the legislature includes J. M. Heagy Breenlton Chig Keefe Williametown and Edward Keiper Lomlonsderry.
Lancaster Aug 1 Miss Kisle N Fitzgerald and Cyrus Strayer victims of the Chickles trolley disaster are in a dying condition. Fitzgerald suffers a broken jaw and skull fracture while Strayer has internal injuries and a fractured skull. Other wounded are reported as healing.
William H. Singery, leader on the Allentown convention slate, has sent his resignation to State Chairman Hubert E. Wright. The brief letter will be read aloud and the content released Thursday at the state committee meeting in Harrisburg.
Washington reports that one third of August has passed with treasury receipts totaling pa and expenditures at 19,655,000 leaving a deficit of about 10,050,000. The improvement hoped for in the deficit outlook has not yet appeared, making a reduction in the deficit by month end probable but not certain.
The Berth Livan county convention met in Lock Haven this afternoon and nominated H. T. Harvey for congress and J. W. Fredricke for assembly, plus a full county ticket. Resolutions support the national platform and endorse Governor Hastings administration and F. C. Leonard in congress.

Secretary of the Navy Colonel R W Thompson collapsed this afternoon in Terre Haute Indiana and was unconscious for much of the time. Doctors express hope for recovery though the official aged 9 years is not accurate in context.
A blaze at 465 467 409 Greenwich Street, in Manhattan, traps workers at the A K Warren electric repair firm and other tenants. Early reports list up to thirty dead or missing with several injured as flames block exits and rescue efforts unfold. Names include William Gray and Esther Finstein among the dead. explosion suspected as ignition.
Allentown August letter from Democratic state committee chairman Kh. F. Wright to ex-Congressman W. H. Sowden defends Singerly, urges patience until state committee meeting, and rejects claims that sound money electors would gridlock the ticket by delaying vacancies. Wright says many fears are unfounded and asserts negotiable resignations will fill vacancies with acceptable men.
Baron Fava the Italian ambassador has telegrammed the state department from Bar Harbor asking for official information about the lynching of three alleged Italian subjects in Louisiana. The state department has asked the Louisiana governor for a full report to determine if the men were naturalized citizens, which would end Italian involvement.
The text notes that individuals named Lana and Colorado were shown to be allegiance to the United States and that indemnity will be demanded grow out of former balances. Congress is asked to appropriate funds for that purpose.
Ex president Benjamin Harrison plans to stump for sound money in August. He notified General Powell Clayton by letter dated August 10, offering a speech in New York at any time in August chosen by the Republican national committee. Clayton telegraphed approval and set August 27 as the date, though the venue is not yet chosen.
Across New York Philadelphia Trenton Chicago and other cities the intense heat yields numerous prostrations and dozens of deaths. Reports describe 88 89 90 degree readings and rising humidity with stores tied to hospitals and workers quitting en masse.
Special to The Tribune Montrose August 11 reports the Montrose and Bridgewater McKinley and Hobart club organized with A J Colborn Jr of Scranton delivering the sole speech. The meeting drew about two hundred voters showing Republican strength while Colborn praised William Connell as a principled Lackawanna district candidate for Congress.
