Allentown August 7 1806 Redbert Z. Wale resigns as chairman of the Democratic State committee citing reasons and criticizing the Chicago convention. He argues the party should adhere to its long held Democratic principles rather than subordinate them to a decree and warns of harm to the party if false doctrines prevail.
Robert B. Wright attacks the Democratic platform and its silver currency proposal as a danger to the nation. He warns it would ruin credit, empower speculators, and provoke chaos by opposing principle and perverting party loyalties. Wright frames opposition as defense of liberty and progress.
In Cleveland Ohio on July 7 the case of William Stanley a locked out employee vs Major Mills Kisson seeks to prevent the Brown Hoisting and Conveying Company from summoning more military and police to guard works and streets. The hearing before Judge Nobile began to restrain arming non union men and to enforce a July 87 agreement.
In Oshaha Nebraska on August 7 Claude H Hoover was executed for killing his brother in law Couneiliman wled Thibols. The hanging occurred with maximum privacy permitted by law. Hoover cited drink as the cause of his crime and warned others against it.
In Edwardsville Pennsylvania an explosion of gas at No 4 shaft seriously burned Morrlia Hearich miner Mark Hill a car runner and an unknown Hunearkin. They were removed to the city hospital.
The Sound Money Democrats conference gathered representatives from 33 states with about 200 delegates. They chose to call a convention for September 2 and selected Indianapolis as the location, while rejecting a third ticket and emphasizing businesslike work to support a pro sound money platform. General Coxey attended at the headquarters. W. D. Bynum presided as organizer.

A breaker near Hasleton and another near Hagerton were destroyed by fire late tonight. The Linderman and Sheer operated breaker had been idle two months awaiting an exectation. Estimated loss around $60. The blaze marks the third time this breaker has burned.
