Grow county movement and Wilkes-Barre politics
The Tribune opens a Wilkes-Barre office to push regional news and grow circulation in the Wyoming Valley. Discussion focuses on Grow county plans, possible county seat sites, political support, and local officials, with notes on Hollenback cemetery policy and regional industry and a looming court house project.
Court House Question fuels county commission controversy
Opinion centers on the new court house project and the likelihood the current board will not start construction. Architect Myers of Michigan has secured 710,000 for second hand plans and a strong contract, with speculation the county may pay 20,000 for unusable bullring plans. The issue looms over upcoming elections and future commission terms.
