Punishment of Sin Sermon Denounces Eternal Torment Theory

Rev Warren G Partridge at Penn Avenue Baptist argued against the view that God cannot condemn the wicked to eternal punishment. He used Scriptural examples including Satan, Noah, and Sodom Gomorrah to show timeless judgment, while asserting eternal fire is figurative and all must seek repentance through faith in Jesus Christ. He urged trust in God's justice and warned reliance on human reasoning. The sermon also touched on Baptist Young People's union aims and youth opportunities in the church.

Story of the Cross Draws Elm Park Parishioners

Hundreds failed to gain admittance to Elm Park Church last night as Dudley Buck s Story of the Cross was performed by the church quartet with Mrs M J Boston-Willams and G Fred Whitemore. Rev W H Pearce led a devotional service stressing the song ministry and the conductor Professor Carter directed the organ. The performers captured Buck s intention with a sincere, well balanced rendition. Mrs Boston-Willams offered a standout voice and the ensemble overall delivered solidly.
