Our display of new wash goods and fancy spring fabrics is now open for inspection, boasting hundreds of weaves and patterns from gephyry to eol-webby styles. Luxurious tulle chateaines, white or black grounds with stripes, and embroidered Swisses headline a broad exhibition of textiles from London and Paris inspired designs.
The store showcases a vast line of fabrics including White Malls India Linens Nainsooks Victoria Lawns Piques and Or andies with Swivel Silks in green light blue lavender cardinal and black. Many patterns like checks dots Persians ginghams lace effects and solid grounds are offered along with moire crystals and a range of dark waists dresses wrappers and fabrics for varied uses.
Saturday sessions opened with Bishop Vincent leading devotions on Timothy. The business meeting appointed officers, debated boundaries, and elected several ministers to orders and reserve seats. Harrisburg April 5 The first annual report of the state banking commission outlines plans to tax foreign schemes, raise fees to fund the banking department, and tighten regulation of building and loan associations. Recommendations cover charter approvals, loan limits, director liabilities, reserves, director oaths, trust custody, foreign supervision, bank name use restrictions, loan amortization rules, licensing, and mandatory registration of associations.
Ex-President Harrison seeks a quiet New York visit as wedding plans face shifts. Russell Harrison and Mrs McKee will not attend the ceremony in Indianapolis, with the ex-president and Mrs Dimmick set to wed tomorrow afternoon between six and six thirty. The family feud over the second marriage has been publicized since the engagement.
Fair and warmer conditions reported this morning. Includes Mysteries of Hypnotism, Banking Reform, political information and market reports. Twenty valuable horses burned in an incident. Local government reorganization discussed with two strong reports and Saturday primaries noted.
Rochester April 1 Professor Sanri Baldwin and his wife the White Mahatmas have unsettled Rochester with hypnotism and tricks. Baldwin says he uses natural agencies, not spiritualism, and discusses Madame Blavatsky, mesmeric powers, and four stages of mesmeric control as he explains his act.
A Saturday night fire in Honesdale at the Hennigan block on Main Street caused extensive damage to a row of shops and residences. Fireman Lewis Manger was seriously burned when a falling timber knocked him into flames, as water supply from the canal basin was constrained. Estimated losses reach about $16,000 with several insured properties including Hennigan estate and Kranz, Loercher, Moll, Croghan, Kalin, and Clark & Co. limitedly affected.
Harrison Darrow, a farmer near Montrose, felled a maple tree while trimming branches. A limb broke free and fatally impaled Bush, son of Caleb Bush, who was working nearby. Bush died at Montrose after Dr. Gardner pronounced life extinct. Bush, deaf, did not hear the tree fall. Darrow expressed deep grief over the accident.
A fire at Buffalo driving park destroyed Alonzo McDonald's stables and twenty horses. Cause traced to an oil stove in a cleaner's room. Stables owned by Cr. J. Hamlin valued at $10,000. Horse losses estimated at $75,000 with no insurance. Notable victims include Ellen 8 from Gainesville, General Ewell, Medina, Eddie Wilkes of McDonald, and several Bradford horses.
General Grosvenor of Ohio tallies state delegate counts for McKinley with a total of 25 elected delegates and predicts 450 McKinley delegates by May. He notes unelected delegates in Ohio and Indiana adjust his total relative to New York Tribune figures and cites upcoming state conventions in April.
In Lycoming county April 2 Republicans chose Eliaser as national delegate over H C Parsons. Deemer backed McKinley platform while Parsons supported Quay. McKinley won three fourths of the presidential vote, with Quay second and Allison third. Howard Lyon James Coulter and Robert Brownlee elected delegates to the state convention.
Morgantown West Virginia reports miners and mine workers in the Fairman region received notice that mining rates would rise by 24 cents now, with further approx one half rate advance expected, affecting pay and conditions for workers this season.
Cincinnati women threaten to combat Fosdick style theatre limits by introducing a legislature measure that fines theatergoers and managers for intermission departures or tobacco spitting. In a separate note, Iron manufacturers held a secret meeting pledging a tight sugar and starch trust style conspiracy among corporations.
Steamship Arrivals in New York on April 6 include the Fuorat Biemarck from Naples and La Bourg from Havre. Departures list the Htruria bound for Queenstown. Sightings include La Normandie en route to New York via Havre, with the vessel passing the port.
The forecast says in the middle states today fair and warmer with fresh westerly winds followed by cloudiness and possible rain and high winds on the coasts. Tuesday will bring partly cloudy skies with no major changes.

In a Seventh Avenue saloon two African American men quarreled over their dogs. One man killed the other and, with a knife in his throat, clung to his killer and dragged him down. As officers arrived Barrett and Cooper were named victims, with Barrett’s dying scream. The living killer was restrained after a gasping struggle.
