Tra Gibson a 26 year old florist from Woodbury New Jersey shot and killed widow Fannie March owner of the Farmers hotel at 610 Annapolis street Philadelphia. After firing he shot himself, is dying at a city hospital. He had been staying at the hotel and was intoxicated at the time of the act. Details of motive remain unclear as police investigate.
In a bar room a woman identified as Mrs March was shot four times and died en route to the hospital. A man named Gibson was found wounded in the kitchen and remained unconscious, with the incident tied to a love affair that led to the shooting.
White Haven along the Lehigh Valley railroad woke to a dam No 1 break causing seven feet of high water in hours. The Lehigh River threatened a bridge but it remained, with minor plank damage. The town darkened as water power plants and Wallace foundry shut down for days awaiting repairs.

St Louis express wagon drivers Charles Bal gard and William Althous were severely injured this afternoon while removing a hanging telegraph wire from the rear of No 112 North Sixth Street. An energized wire swung and struck their line, killing the horse as well.
