Flooding hits Laurel and Clay Counties from slow storm system
Heavy early morning rain from a slowing storm dumped three to five inches in southern Clay County and three to four and a half inches near the Knox border. Laurel County faced road flooding, washed culverts, and damaged driveways near Pittsburg and the Rockcastle line, with no homes reported damaged. Rescue crews from the Tri County region assisted, including Laurel County Swift Water Rescue. Six to seven residents were rescued in Clay County as waters rose, while some Brightshade residents were stranded southeast of Manchester.

Two suspects, Shawn K. Stehlin and Darla McCormick, are jailed on first degree robbery charges with $25,000 cash bonds after a Brock's Tobacco Store heist in Laurel County. A pantyhose masked gunman robbed the Brock's on KY 229 KY 1189. a witness provided the suspect vehicle plate.
