Nixon delays departure after historic Hirohito meeting
President Nixon's Air Force One departure from Elmendorf AFB was pushed to 9:15 a.m. Alaska time after a marathon meeting with Emperor Hirohito. He planned to attend a Diamond Jubilee dinner for Mamie Eisenhower in Washington and meet Soviet Foreign Minister Andrei Gromyko, while continuing to press for a dock strike settlement with ILWU leaders.

Arizona Board of Regents requests a total operating budget of 133,202,599 for 1972-73, a rise of 18,676,973 or 16.3 percent over 1971-72, and seeks 101,613,504 from the Legislature. The breakdown includes UofA main campus 54,809,682 and ASU 42,357,918 with other amounts for UofA College of Medicine, UofA Hospital, NAU, and the Board of Regents.
