In Lusaka President Kenneth Kaunda warned Secretary of State Henry Kissinger that he has only a few days to prevent racial war in Africa. Kaunda stressed there is no time to waste as Kissinger presses for peace amid regional tensions.
The House approved a wide ranging tax revision bill extending a $180 annual tax saving for a family of four earning 15000 dollars and approved a major tax provision on estate taxes while also discussing a tuition tax credit set to rise through 1980. Senate approval and presidential action await.

Rep. John Conlan rejected Maricopa County Atty. Don Harris’s charge that Nixon blocked a 1972 probe into Conlan campaign funds. Harris showed a reconstructed Bolles file claiming Nixon called publisher Pulliam to influence coverage. Conlan called the accusations preposterous and said the investigation found nothing wrong. Bolles died in a car bombing. associate John Adamson faces murder charges.
Two Arizona newspapers in Oct 1972 reported conflict of interest concerns over 25 Valley auto dealers who contributed to State Sen. John Conlan. The Progress listed dealers on Conlan's expense statement with gifts from 25 to 100 dollars. The New Times said Conlan sought dealer help for his congressional bid and alleged protection for dealers in exchange for contributions.
Phoenix AP John H. Adamson 32 faces murder charges in the June 2 car bombing of Arizona Republic reporter Don Bolles. Judge C Kimball Rose rejects a 30 day delay, orders trial to start Oct 1 and heirs motions heard Sept 27. Adamson, in Maricopa jail, awaits a preliminary hearing Friday with associate Jimmy Robison and Stan Tanner indicted in the same case.
