Low down payment loans gain popularity in housing market
Private mortgage insurance allows 90 to 95 percent loan-to-value for homes, reducing down payments to 1 500 or 3 000 on a 30 000 purchase. Loans close faster than FHA VA, with less stringent qualification, and industry executives expect wider use this fall and winter. The top rate is about 7.4 percent, with costs via a small one time fee or higher declining balance rate.
