The Kansas City flash flood death toll rose to 23 with damage estimated at $50 million. Twenty-two bodies were recovered in Kansas City and the 23rd was found in Leavenworth, Kansas, about 35 miles away.
The government deployed 10,000 police and troops to pursue a new left wing terrorist group claiming responsibility for 23 blasts across Mexico City Guadalajara and Oaxaca injuring five and causing about 20 million in damage between midnight and 3 am Wednesday. Seventeen more bombs were found and disarmed.
ERDA scientists conducted a small underground nuclear test at the Nevada Test Site. The weaponsrelated blast was triggered at 7 36 a m local time according to an ERDA spokesman.

Scottsdale Parks and Recreation staff are drafting a five year master parks plan focused on the northeast area. The plan, due in January for review by the Parks and Recreation Commission, Planning Commission, and city council, will specify park locations, types, acquisition methods, and include updates of existing parks’ master plans. It will be an element of the Northeast Area Development Plan but function as a citywide document.

Phoenix AP reports that John Harvey Adamson testified he spent six months reading police reports on the Don Bolles murder before seriously considering plea bargaining. He pleaded guilty to second degree murder in the Don Bolles case and agreed to testify for the state in exchange for a 20 year term and immunity.
Enrollment climbs to above 2,000 across five Scottsdale area private schools. Judson School gains from 450 to 500, St. Daniel's to 244, Our Lady of Perpetual Help up to 646, Phoenix Country Day at 418, Camelback Desert at 210, while St. Theresa's slips from 420 to 395.
