A Scottsdale Progress reader letters section urges readers to reject moralistic witch-hunts. The note cites abduction cases and social judgments, praises Pepita as support, and calls for humane attitudes toward vulnerable people and animals, including roadkill and troughs for travelers.
Betty Banner appeals for attention to animal welfare issues including ponies wild horses and dogs and cats protections and the strains on the rodeo industry during winter. She notes inadequate care for injured animals and cites readers not seeing or caring about these problems. The letter also mentions Mr and Mrs Vernon Walker visiting Riverside California over Labor Day with the Fox family.
The piece argues against tearing down established electric light and power systems to replace them with government control. It likens the idea to remodeling a house by blowing it up for a bigger porch, urging support for American free enterprise and rejection of government intrusion. It urges readers to ask neighbors about creeping socialism and unfair competition.
