UPI reports mid August commodity feed ratios fell across hog egg broiler turkey and milk sectors signaling tighter margins for livestock and poultry. Egg feed ratio dropped from 6.1 to 5.8 while broiler and milk ratios also slid cementing a record low comparison to 1973 levels.
The New York Stock Exchange ended broadly weaker as the Dow fell 16.58 to 646.75 and the S P 500 dropped 1.93 to 68.59 amid 1,797 issues traded. Volume reached about 16.4 million shares as analysts blamed fear and inflation for the slide.
