Ballpoint millionaire reshapes Catholic press empire
Patrick J. Frawley Jr. a West Coast ballpoint pen magnate now controls Twin Circle Publishing and two of the five national Catholic newspapers. The 46‑year‑old mogul funds publications, radio and TV shows reflecting his traditionalist Catholic stance and anti‑Communist activism. Fray’s Twin Circle buys National Catholic Register as editors shift, while The Our Sunday Visitor and another weekly remain influential. Robert Morris replaces Fr. Lyons as Twin Circle editor. Fr. Lyons continues writing.
