Burglary Reports Across City From Office to Homes
Police reported multiple burglaries with varied items. A $650 calculator disappeared from Stenjem Building Corp offices after an apparent break in. A saddle and two horse blankets were stolen from Pat Donohoe’s tack room between August 26 and 28. Neighbor recovered about $200 in coins from John E. Wright’s home after two youths about 17 entered and exited through the alley. Earrings and coins valued around $60 were taken from Bill Ensign’s home. Eight half-dollars were stolen from Beverly Derner’s residence. Authorities noted signs of forced entry in several cases and traced small items to the piggy bank at Wright’s home.

Curfews Enforced in Several U S Cities During Unrest

Viet Cong to observe three day cease fire for Ho Chi Minh death
UPI reports Saigon broadcast that the Viet Cong congress decided a three day halt in offensives in South Vietnam to mourn Ho Chi Minh. North Vietnam reportedly may follow with a similar pause. No start date announced, but orders expected within 24 hours. The move coincides with seven day mourning period and comes as allied forces report a helicopter shot down in Cambodia.

Missionary Fatally or Injured After Bicycle Crash in Scottsdale
A 30 year old British Columbia missionary and local resident Carl Johnson was struck Wednesday afternoon by a car driven by 24 year old Dennis Ehler in the 1600 block of Hayden Road near Cross. Johnson was treated at Scottsdale Baptist Hospital and released.

Six killed in Blythe plane crash linked to power outage
Riverside County coroner identified six Arizona residents among the dead after a Piper Comanche crashed near Blythe Airport on approach. Pilot Forrest Dockrey, 52, from Scottsdale, and five others from Tempe Phoenix and Scottsdale were killed when runway lights failed. The FAA noted FAA informed lights were cut by the field's flight service. the pilot faced decision to land. The crash happened about 8:15 p.m. after the plane departed Phoenix.

Coblentz resigns consultant post in Phoenix
