SRP opens gates at Roosevelt to release water into Apache Lake

The Salt River Project resumes releases from Roosevelt Lake to Apache Lake for four aims: satisfy city farmer and homeowner water orders, generate power at Mormon Flat and Stewart Mountain dams, oxygenate Apache Lake to protect fish, and keep Canyon and Saguaro lakes full for recreation. The flow of 650 cfs began Aug 24 after earlier Aug releases paused due to rains. Water moves from Apache to Canyon then Saguaro, into the Salt River and SRP canal system. Bartlett Lake on the Verde provides extra supply.
