Vada Thomas Dies in Scottsdale at 62
Mrs. Vada E. Thomas, 62, civic leader of Scottsdale, died Friday at Scottsdale Baptist Hospital. She lived at 236 E. First Ave. in Scottsdale for 44 years and was active in the Order of Eastern Star and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary 3513. Survivors include her husband George, a daughter Mrs. K. E. Scott, three sons John A. in Phoenix Stanley F. E. in Alabama and George H. Thomas Jr. in Cottonwood, a brother A. E. Lent Sullivan, other siblings out of state, and 14 grandchildren. Banker Confesses Embezzling 1.5 Million in Valentine
Richard L. Davenport the 45 year old president of Nebraska State Bank in Valentine Nebraska confessed to embezzling more than 1.5 million dollars saying he was tired of living with it. He admitted spending funds on land cattle the stock market and gambling. Davenport returned to Valentine after waiving federal jurisdiction and was held in the Cherry County Courthouse basement cell.
