Paradise Valley officials urge residents to attend a public hearing on a proposed 17 mile flood control canal project funded at six million dollars. The plan, approved by the Maricopa County Flood Control District and the U S Army Corps of Engineers, would run from 40th Street to Bell Road near 67th Avenue, affecting 65 000 homes while displacing about 275 residences and businesses, six within town limits. Town Manager Oscar Butt notes the council previously believed the project would not provide flood relief to Paradise Valley.
