Nixon to name choices for two Supreme Court vacancies
The White House announced President Nixon will reveal his selections for the Black and Harlan vacancies in a 7:30 p.m. nationwide address. Press Secretary Ziegler said nominations would be sent to the Senate Tuesday with names long rumored including a California woman judge and an Arkansas lawyer. Some Senators and Harvard faculty criticized speculative picks. ABA reports on Lillie and Friday were noted but not confirmed. The administration maintained the Senate grants advice and consent, not the ABA veto.
