Baptist Hospital reports multiple births with parents listed and birth dates from Oct 9 to Oct 12 including families from Tempe Scottsdale and Phoenix. St Josephs notes also list several newborns and addresses. The Maricopa County Clerk’s office issued marriage licenses for several couples in Scottsdale and Mesa with ages and residences provided.
Vladimir Belov wooed Larissa with flowers and songs but was rejected. In a last resort he set fire to her apartment, a Krokodil report says. It is unclear if Larissa survived the blaze as authorities investigate.

He rested at his desert home and spoke at a Heard Museum fundraiser in Phoenix. He highlighted Navajo ties and Indian issues noting past abuse and loyalty.
Jury selection began in federal court for the spy case of John Butenko an Orange New Jersey electronics engineer and Igor Ivanov a Russian Amtorg chauffeur charged with stealing SAC secrets. Both face death if convicted. FBI agents nabbed them in Englewood with two Soviet U N diplomats expelled by the State Department.
Saigon reports over 300 soldiers fatally or seriously harmed in 24 hours of heavy fighting. Two American advisers died and one injured when their jeep hit a mine likely linked to Viet Cong activity. A Marine officer was hurt in a helicopter crash blamed on mechanical failure.
Eight thousand campaign letters mail soliciting a $1 donation to fund county races were ruled unlawful lottery material by Lewis Doyle of the U S Post Office Department. Roy Phil lips, 14, died when a car parked to feed rabbits rolled into a wash and trapped him as he tried to stop it. Cochise County deputies said the youth took the family car without permission while the father Adell Phillips of Bowie was eating lunch and unaware of the theft.
