British plan for peace in Viet Nam before U.N. General Assembly

British Foreign Secretary George Brown presented a six point peace plan to the United Nations General Assembly amid North Viet Nam's rejection. Brown urged Soviet co chair Andrei Gromyko to reconvene the 1954 Geneva conference to craft a settlement based on the Geneva accords. Hanoi’s press dismissed Brown’s effort as using a British band to play U.S. jazz and rejected renewed talks.

Wildcat Struck Again by Student Editors at Arizona

The Arizona Wildcat which serves the University of Arizona was not published today as the regular editorial staff refused to return. Editor Bill Woodruff said the staff halted production to catch up on classes and sleep and blamed Hi-Color Lithographers for press delays. He warned they would resume only when a competent print shop is secured.

Morning announcements shift site for the 91st Street sewage treatment plant dedication to Tempe’s Priest Road metering station. Boy hurt in crash in Scottsdale

An 11 year old Scottsdale boy was treated and released from Scottsdale Baptist Hospital after his bike struck the rear door of a car driven by Katherine Backe. Police said Randy Lewis and another boy rode two abreast in the street when the car passed on the right. No citations were issued.

Hancock seeks to intervene in Gibraltar Savings receivership denied

In Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Charles C. Stidham refused Hancock Financial Corp. petition to intervene in Gibraltar Savings and Loan Association receivership. Hancock claimed 98.5 percent of Gibraltar guaranteed capital stock but the court ruling deemed the petition untimely after final receivership judgment. Gibraltar was placed in receivership August 8 and the Federal Savings and Loan Corp. named permanent receiver ten days later.
